Lobaito, City Administrator FOR: August 5, 2002 Regular City Council Meeting RE: Request for a Class A Liquor License Recommendation: To approve Mayor Althoff’s recommendation and grant a Class A Liquor License for the retail sale of alcoholic liquors for consumption on premises to Brinker Restaurant Corporation, d/b/a Chili’s Grill & Bar located at 2409 N. N. Richmond Road and to approve the attached Ordinance increasing the number of Class A Liquor Licenses from 23 to 24. The Mayor received a request from Brinker Restaurant Corporation for a Class A Liquor License for the new Chili’s Grill & Bar, 2409 N. Richmond Road. This restaurant scheduled to open in late August is located in the Meijer/Home Depot Outlot in the North Route 31 commercial district. An ordinance granting a conditional use permit for a restaurant serving alcoholic beverages was approved at this location on February 4, 2002. The District Manager and Corporate Attorney for Brinker Restaurant Corporation met with Mayor Althoff. All required information has been submitted; the $1,400 annual license fee has been paid; and the local manager has been fingerprinted. Brinker Corporation requires all employees of Chili’s Grill & Bar to attend Bar Code® training to assist their employees in serving alcoholic beverages responsibly. In addition, all employees of the Chili’s Grill & Bar will attend the next available Beverage Alcohol Sellers & Servers Education Training (BASSET) class. As Liquor Control Commissioner for the City of McHenry, Mayor Althoff is recommending the City Council to:  approve the request for a Class A License from Brinker Restaurant Corporation d/b/a Chili’s Grill & Bar located at 2409 North Richmond Road, subject to the receipt of a satisfactory fingerprint result; and  authorize the Mayor’s execution of the attached ordinance increasing the number of Class A Liquor Licenses from 23 to 24. mmg
