AGENDA SUPPLEMENT
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Douglas K. Maxeiner, City Administrator
FOR: September 15, 2008 Regular City Council Meeting
RE: Request from The Church of Holy Apostles to waive the three-events
per calendar year limit and grant a special event liquor license and
waiver of $25 license fee for the annual Fall Fest on September 19, and
20, 2008.
The Church of Holy Apostles is hosting its annual Fall Fest on Friday, September 19
and Saturday, September 20, 2008, in the Bell Tower Place located at 5211 W. Bull
Valley Road. Attached is a letter from Fr. Robert Sherry requesting approval for a
special event liquor license to offer beer and wine to those in attendance and waiver
of the $25 license fee.
Since January 2008, the city has granted three special event liquor licenses to the
church. As the Fall Fest is an annual parish event, the church is requesting a waiver
of the three-events per calendar year limit established in Chapter 4 of the Municipal
Code.
Recommendation: To waive the three-events per calendar year limit and issue a
special event liquor license to The Church of Holy Apostles for the annual Fall Fest
scheduled for September 19 and 20, 2008, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM and to waive the
$25 license fee.

AGENDA SUPPLEMENT
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Douglas K. Maxeiner, City Administrator
FOR: October 13, 2008 Regular City Council Meeting
RE: Amendment to Municipal Code Chapter 4, Section
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the attached ordinance amending Chapter 4,
Section 4-6(8) of the Municipal Code increasing the number of Special Event Liquor
Licenses issued to a single location during a calendar year from three to eight.
As directed by the City Council, staff reviewed the portion of the Municipal Code that
regulates the number of special event liquor licenses issued to a single location per
calendar. Staff is proposing approval of the attached ordinance increasing the
number of licenses issued per calendar year from three to eight.
As a point of information, Illinois State Statute does not impose limits on the number
of special event liquor licenses issued to one location.
