AGENDA SUPPLEMENT TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Douglas K. Maxeiner, City Administrator FOR: June 2, 2008, Regular City Council Meeting RE: Request for Class E2 Liquor License RECOMMENDATION: To approve the request for a Class E2 Liquor License from The Church of Holy Apostles, 5211 West Bull Valley Road conditioned upon use of the church for parishioners only and attached Ordinance increasing the number of E2 licenses from zero to one. On March 31, 2008, the City Council amended the Municipal Code and established the E2 liquor classification for not-for-profit organizations registered with the State of Illinois to sell and/or serve alcoholic beverages in conjunction with special events. The Mayor received a request for a Class E2 liquor license from Father Robert Sherry from The Church of Holy Apostles located at 5211 West Bull Valley Road. The church will use the Class E2 license to host special events in the Bell Tower Place located on the church grounds. The special events will be limited to parishioners. Holy Apostles has stated that they will not be hosting banquets or special events for non- parishioners. The business manager for the church has an appointment to be fingerprinted, submitted the required paperwork, and paid all associated fees.
