The Consent Agenda for the, January 21, 2008 City Council meeting consists of

RE: Request for special event liquor license, and waiver of all
associated fees
from the Knights of Columbus Council 1288 for the sale of beer and
wine at their fundraiser on Saturday, February 16, 2008.
The Knights of Columbus Council 1288 is requesting a special event liquor license for
the sale of beer and wine and to waive all associated fees for a fundraiser to be held
at the Church of Holy Apostles on Saturday, February 16, 2008. The event will feature
music and dancing from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Attached is a letter from Committee
Chair John Vleck and special event license application.
Recommendation: It is the Mayor’s recommendation to approve the request for a
special event liquor license, and to waive all associated fees for the Knights of
Columbus Council 1288 fundraiser on February 16, 2008.

RECOMMENDATION: To a) accept the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce 60
Annual Fiesta Days event schedule; b) use of Parks, Police, and Public Works
departments for various services related to the event; c) special event liquor license;
and, d) waiver of all associated fees.
Attached for the City Council’s review and acceptance is the schedule of events for

the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce 60 Annual Fiesta Days. The customary
Fiesta Days events will commence on Friday, July 11, and conclude with the parade
on Sunday, July 20, 2008. Family Faith Nite has been added to the schedule and will
be held at Petersen Park on Saturday, July 26 from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
The chamber is requesting permission to use Petersen and Veterans Memorial Parks
and to utilize the services of the Parks, Police, and Public Works departments to
provide various services for the event. An accounting of city services for Fiesta Days
last year showed a contribution of approximately $50,000.
Pursuant to approval of the Fiesta Days schedule, the chamber has submitted an
application for a special event liquor license to serve beer and wine on the following
dates and locations. Every effort will be made by the chamber to assure that
underage visitors will not be served alcoholic beverages. I.D. wristbands will be
required for service.
