STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To approve the request.
The McHenry Garden Club is hosting a Holiday Flower Extravaganza at McHenry High
th
School East Campus on November 29 at 7:00 PM. The club is requesting permission
from the City Council to install temporary advertising signs at 13 locations throughout the
city as depicted on the attached letter and waiver of the $30 permit fee.
At the event, local florists will provide instruction on how to create floral arrangements.
Participants will also have the opportunity to win the arrangements created at the event
through a raffle.
Proceeds from the Flower Extravaganza will be used to assist in city beautification projects
and educational programs as well as the possibility of establishing a scholarship fund.
The City Council has granted similar requests in the past. A representative from the
McHenry Garden Club will be in attendance at the meeting.
