AGENDA SUPPLEMENT
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Douglas K. Maxeiner, City Administrator
FOR: May 21, 2007 Regular City Council Meeting
RE: Garden Quarter Neighborhood Resource Center
RECOMMENDATION: To increase the Garden Quarter Neighborhood Resource
Center annual allocation from $7,500 to $8,000.
The city received the attached letter from Carlos Acosta, Executive Director of the
McHenry County Latino Coalition requesting an increase in the city’s annual
allocation of $7,500. In 2006, the Garden Quarter property was sold and the coalition
was informed that the new owner could no longer underwrite the utility expenses for
the center. The coalition is seeking additional funding to help pay those expenses.
The City Council approved $7,500 for the center in the FY 2007/08 budget. If the
request is approved, the additional $500 can be funded from the miscellaneous
administrative expenses account (6940) in the Administration budget.
