RE: Snowmobile Watercross Festival Event
Recommendation: To approve the request from Riverbend Limited Partnership, LLC for 1)
temporary waiver of Ordinance 13-902 to permit snowmobiles in a city park; 2) temporary
use of Petersen Park for the fourth annual Snowmobile Watercross Festival Event on

Saturday, September 29 and Sunday, September 30with event setup on Friday,

September 28; 3) special event liquor license subject to conditions listed below; and, 4)
request to maintain park usage fees at $200 with a $100 security deposit.
The Riverbend Limited Partners. LLC (RLP) is requesting permission to host the fourth annual
th
Snowmobile Watercross Festival Event in Petersen Park on Saturday, September 29 from
th
10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Sunday, September 30 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The event is
sponsored by the International Watercross Association and is the season finale of a six race
series.
As in prior years, the organizers plan to offer a beer garden with food vendors, tents selling
sponsor paraphernalia, and a deejay playing music and making announcements. A car and
motorcycle show will be held in the asphalt parking lot adjacent to the Petersen Park
maintenance building only on Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The layout of the event will be the same as prior years. The vendor and festival area will be
separate from the snowmobile racers pit site. A $10.00 admission fee will be charged for
adults to enter the beach area, children under 12 may enter free of charge.
A special event liquor license to sell beer is also requested for both days of the event from
12:00 PM to 6:00 PM with the following conditions:
a. Alcohol will not be allowed in the restricted race pit area during the races
b. Alcohol sales will not begin until Noon each day of the event
c. Alcohol will not be allowed outside the confined festival area
d. RLP will provide event security for each day of the event
e. Wrist-banding and identification checks will occur each day of the event
The operation of the event has not changed from prior years. RLP will provide overnight
security, the park will be closed at night, and no camping is allowed. The Police and Parks
and Recreation Department staff have stated no opposition to the event.
