Maxeiner, City Administrator FOR: Regular City Council Meeting RE: AGENDA SUPPLEMENT TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Bill Hobson, Management Assistant for Community Relations FOR: August 29, 2005 Regular City Council Meeting RE: Request for Temporary use of Veterans Memorial Park for an Antique Dealers Sale Attachments: Letter from Pam Brunner and Special Use Application BACKGROUND Mrs. Pamela Brunner, a city of McHenry resident, is the owner of a small shop in the Volo Antique Mall. Ms. Brunner is requesting permission to hold an Antique Dealers Sale at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, October 8, 2005. Ms. Brunner’s intention is to invite local antique dealers to participate in the sale. The event setup would be similar to Art in the Park, yet much less intensive. ANALYSIS Staff is of the opinion that the event would bring people to the downtown districts and provide exposure to some of the unique stores McHenry has to offer. Veterans Memorial Park provides a quaint and unique feel that would appeal to both vendors and sightseers. If successful, Ms. Brunner expressed interest in making the sale an annual event. RECOMMENDATION To approve the request for the temporary use of Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, October 8, 2005 for an Antique Dealers Sale.
