Maxeiner, City Administrator FOR: May 3, 2004 Regular City Council Meeting RE: Oath of Office - K-9 Officer Chako Police Commission Chairman Dennis Adams will swear in Chako, the city’s second addition to the Police Department K-9 Unit accompanied by K-9 Training Officer Popp. Chako is a male German Shepherd approximately three-years old, born in the Czech Republic. The dog has been trained in tracking, area searches, building searches, article searches, narcotics detection, and personal protection. Officer Popp will provide the Mayor and City Council with a brief presentation of Chako’s abilities. PROCLAMATION TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Douglas K. Maxeiner, City Administrator FOR: May 3, 2004 Regular City Council Meeting RE: Miller Monument Company Day – Est. 1868 In celebration of National Preservation Week, Mayor Low will present a Proclamation to John H. Miller declaring May 5, 2004 as Miller Monument Company Day. The Proclamation recognizes the Miller Monument Company as the oldest family- owned business operating in the City of McHenry today. The company was established in 1868. CONSENT AGENDA TO: City Administrator, Mayor and City Council FROM: Chief Thomas J. O’Meara FOR: May 3, 2004 Regular City Council Meeting RE: Vehicle Replacement, Fiscal-Year 2004/2005 Recommendation: To approve the purchase of two 2004 Ford Crown Victoria police cars from Landmark Ford for an amount not to exceed $40,496; one 2004 Chevrolet Impala Police Interceptor from Miles Chevrolet not to exceed $18,025; and, two 2004 Ford Explorer 4x4’s from Bob Ridings Ford not to exceed $41,690. Annually, replacement vehicles for the Police Department are ordered through the State of Illinois Joint Purchasing Contract Program pursuant to the department’s vehicle replacement plan. The plan serves the purposes of preventing spikes in the city budget and reduces maintenance costs by replacing higher mileage vehicles on a regular cycle. Each year, the Illinois Department of Central Management Services accepts formal bids for a variety of items. These items are then made available to all communities statewide for purchasing. This year, the contracts for vehicle purchase were awarded to Bob Ridings Ford, Miles Chevrolet, and Landmark Ford It is staff’s recommendation to approve the purchase of the following vehicles as detailed in the Fiscal Year 2004/2005 budget:  Two, 2004 Ford Crown Victoria police cars from Landmark Ford for an amount not to exceed $40,496;  One, 2004 Chevrolet Impala Police Interceptor from Miles Chevrolet not to exceed $18,025; and,  Two, 2004 Ford Explorer 4x4’s from Bob Ridings Ford not to exceed $41,690
