Re: Petersen Park Ball Field Dedication
BACKGROUND
A recommendation was made at the May 15, 2003 Parks & Recreation Committee meeting
to name a ball field at Petersen Park in recognition of Curtis Bremer. Curt has been
involved with the adult and youth baseball/softball programs as an umpire for 30 years.
Local residents submitted two letters requesting such an honor be bestowed upon Curt for
his many years of service to these community programs.
We had hoped to schedule a dedication during the 2003 Season but Curt and his wife were
traveling in July and August. Most of this traveling was to baseball tournaments in
Cooperstown, New York and Omaha, Nebraska.
At this time, we would like to dedicate Field #1 in Petersen Park in Curt’s honor and adopt
the attached resolution. In the spring of 2004, we will have an “Opening Day” ceremony on
this field with the McHenry Baseball Association assigning Curt to umpire the first game on
the field.
RECOMMENDATION
To adopt the attached resolution naming Field #1 in Petersen Park Curtis Bremer Field in
recognition of his many years of dedicated service to the youth and adult athletic programs
in McHenry.

RE: Request from Landmark School Harvest Festival Committee for permission
to use city streets for a Hayride on October 17, 2003.
ATTACHMENTS: 1. Letter from Karen Buenzli, Co-Chair
2. Map of Proposed Route
STAFF RECOMMENDATION: To consider the request.
Background: Attached is a letter from Karen Buenzli, Co-Chair of the Landmark School Harvest
Festival informing the city of the Landmark School Harvest Festival on Friday, October 17, 2003.
As part of the scheduled activities, the school is requesting permission to host a hayride from 6:30
P.M. to 8:30 P.M on the following streets: Waukegan Road, Center Street, John Street and Third
Street (map attached). The school is not requesting closing the streets; they are just seeking
permission to use the streets for the hayride.
Ms. Buenzli has discussed the event with the Police Department and they have no concerns with
the proposal. A representative will be in attendance at the meeting should the City Council have
any questions.
