Celeste Heidemann volunteered to take the minutes for the meeting. Discussion moving forward as we have not had a meeting since March 2020 due to the pandemic. The last 2 years have been "Horrendous." Mission statements Farm day Few plaques have been distributed Jeff Varda talked to Nancy Fike to show up at our meetings and be emeritus. OLd Requests Mary Kay Grassland Program Zelinda Opening up Farm Day and more children involved should continue Continue having people of McHenry aware of the Landmark Commission Jeff Varda stated some issues we should look into: 1. Awareness 2. Getting brochures distributed to Senior Citizen Residences Speaking about the History of McHenry, if they show some interest Celeste will be calling IGNITE Medical Rehabilitation Mary Kay -Heritage Woods Zelinda-Fox Point Robin -Villa Pat Schaefer-McHenry Township 3. Zelinda stated possible handing pamphlets out during the Christmas walk McHenry Remembers Website Social media Highlight Spotlight on the Building or Church of the month,starting with the first one placqued Tom Hillier and Monty Johnson offered to do the website on the Facebook app, We searched through the vault More suggestions on how to get the word out about the Landmark Commission Cemetery walks Hidden Pearl Cafe Stage Left Peterson Park update Jeff Varda spoke with Bill Hobson to firm up Peterson Park The Cost: $237,000 Jeff stated Jeff Simel came to check on the "bat situation" in the barn. The Peterson family will need to become aware of the situation of the whole farm. Jeff Varda met with the Social Science Department at McHenry High School. Jeff discussed the possibility of having 2 interns from the High School to come to our meetings.. This program will start in January. Jeff will be possibly speaking to the Freshman History Class in May. We will be sending out Reminders concerning time and dates of our next meeting.
