Background. Per the Public Works Committee request at the February 13"', 2006 meeting we
are submitting Public Works recommendation for stop sign locations within the Riverside
Hollow Subdivision in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices guide
lines.
Analysis. As the Committee is aware, the Manual of Urban Control Devices (MUTCD) is
the standard guideline used regarding traffic control devices on streets and highways. The
conditions outlined in the MUTCD support the installation of stop signs at intersections of a
less important road with a main road where application of the normal right-of-way rule would
not be expected to provide reasonably safe operation. Public Works is recommending stop
signs on the attached map at the following locations.
Recommendation. Staff requests Committee recommendation to the City Council for the
approval to amend Chapter 13 of the Motor Vehicle and Traffic Code for the installation of
stop signs as indicated for the Riverside Hollow Subdivision.
