HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 04/07/2008 - City Council REGULAR MEETING APRIL 7, 2008 A Regular Meeting of the McHenry City Council was called to order by Mayor Low at 7:30 P.M. on Monday, April 7, 2008 in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Center. At roll call the following Aldermen were present: Santi, Glab, Schaefer, Wimmer, Peterson, and Condon. Absent: Murgatroyd. City Staff in attendance were: City Administrator Maxeiner, City Clerk Jones, Deputy City Administrator Martin, Assistant City Administrator Hobson, Director of Finance Black, Director of Public Works Schmitt, Chief of Police O'Meara. Absent: City Attorney McArdle, Director of Parks and Recreation Merkel. PUBLIC INPUT SESSION — 10 MINUTE LIMITATION There was no one who signed in to speak during the Ten Minute Public Input Session. REQUEST FOR CLASS F1 LIQUOR LICENSE: NVP INC D/B/A LIQUOR AND WINE PLACE, 2202 WEST ROUTE 120 , Mayor Low stated Mahesh Patel, President of NVP Inc has requested a liquor license to sell packaged liquors in his new store located at 2202 West Route 120 in McHenry. All appropriate paperwork and fees have been paid, and Mr. Patel has been April 7, 2008 Page 3 fingerprinted. Following her meeting with Mr. Patel, Mayor Low stated it is her recommendation to approve a Class F1 liquor license be awarded to Mr. Patel for his store, Liquor and Wine Place, located at 2202 West Route 120. Mayor Low noted all of Mr. �- Patel's staff would be required to be BASSET certified. Alderman Glab inquired if there is currently an F1 Liquor License being unused. City Administrator Maxeiner responded this issue would be addressed with annual renewals in May. Motion by Condon, seconded by Wimmer, to accept Mayor Low's recommendation to award a Class F1 Liquor License to NVP Inc d/b/a Liquor and Wine Place located at 2202 West Route 120, subject to satisfactory fingerprint results and BASSET certification by all employees of the establishment. Voting Aye: Santi, Glab, Schaefer, Wimmer, Peterson, Condon. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Murgatroyd. Motion carried. MAYOR- STATEMENT AND REPORT Mayor Low thanked those who attended the Life is a Highway Expo on Saturday, April 5th and noted the event was successful. COMMITTEE REPORTS Public Works Committee Chairman Alderman Wimmer announced a Committee meeting is tentatively scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2008 in the Aldermen's Conference Room. City Administrator Maxeiner announced Finance and Personnel Committee meetings for budget discussions have been re-scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 7 p.m. in the Aldermen's Conference Room. STAFF REPORTS City Administrator Maxeiner reported the curbside spring brush collection begins on April 14th. The neighborhood collection schedule is found in the March newsletter and on the City's website at www.ci.mchenry.il.us. City Administrator Maxeiner also reported the City drop-off yard waste program at Knox Park begins Saturday April 12, 2008. Drop-off hours are 7 a.m. until noon. The facility access is from Route 31. City Administrator Maxeiner noted residents may take advantage of the curbside yard waste collection program from April until December. More information on this program is found on the City's website and in the March newsletter. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS '�- There were no Future Agenda Items discussed.
