HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - R-69-2 - 03/03/1969 - Objection to Senate Bill 71 3-3-,9 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, a discussion was had by the City Council of the City of McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois, in regard to a proposed Bill before the Illinois General Assembly, now known and referred to as Senate Bill No. 71, which Bill proposes to drastically amend, change and add to the Illinois Police Training Act by vesting in a State adminis- trative agency complete control over the appointment of police and fire officials of the cities and villages of the State of Illinois; NOW, THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois, does object to and condemn said Senate Bill No. 71 and, in support of the resolution, respectfully represents to Illinois Senator J. Russell Arrington that said Senate Bill No. 71 is an unwarranted and unnecessary invasion of the powers and duties now being exercised in a competent manner by the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners of the City of McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to the appropriate officials of the State of Illinois as soon as possible after the passage of this resolution.
