HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - None - 03/21/1977 - Recognizing Robert Zujewski and John Langdon RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Sgt. Robert Zujewski and Officer John Langdon of the McHenry Police Department have distinguished themselves and the Police De- partment of the City of McHenry in the performance of their duties; and, WHEREAS, on February 16, 1977, Sgt. Zujewski and Officer Langdon stopped an auto at 1 :39 a.m. in the McHenry Hospital parking lot. In approach- ing the auto, the driver exited with a sawed-off shotgun, loaded and in a cocked position, and pointed the gun at Officer Langdon. Sgt. Zujewski and Officer Langdon rushed the subject even though they were only two to three feet from the muzzle of the weapon. Officer Langdon was able to grab the weapon and did disarm the offender before he had a chance to fire the shotgun. After a brief scuffle, Sgt. Zujewski handcuffed the subject and placed him in the squad car; and, WHEREAS, the action taken by Sgt. Zujewski and Officer Langdon brought credit to the City of McHenry Police Department which involved performance above and beyond that required by members of the McHenry Police Department, NOW THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that Sgt. Robert Zujewski and Officer John Langdon be commended by the Mayor and the City Council of the City of McHenry, on behalf of the citizens of the community for their courageous action. Motion by Harker , seconded by Hromec , that the above resolution be adopted and that a copy be spread on the records of the City of McHenry and a copy be presented to each officer. Ayes: Pepping, Harker, Datz, Smith, Hromec, Schaedel. Nays: None. Absent: Bolger, Wegener.
