RESOLUTION
During the past year, when the Pearl Street Bridge was being erected over
the Fox River, a no-wake area along the Fox River was in effect. The
majority of the no-wake area bordered on the City of McHenry limits. The
City of McHenry found this to be most helpful and reduced the danger of any
accidents during this construction period.
In as much as large boats will not have to negotiate this bridge at a
slower speed than when the old bridge was there, and in as much as the
City of McHenry has a swimming beach and numerous businesses which draw
considerable boat traffic, located in the immediate vacinity, we would
like to request the State of Illinois, Department of Conservation to make
this a no-wake area on a permanent basis from the north end of McHenry
Country Club to 1000 feet north of the city beach.
