HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - R-78-23 - 08/21/1978 - Commending Officer James Rust and Charles Ackerman R-78-23 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Officer James Rust and Special Officer Charles Ackerman, Jr, of the McHenry Police Department have distinguished themselves and the Police Department of the City of McHenry in the performance of their duties; and WHEREAS, on Friday, August 4, 1978, at approximately 2:50 p.m. , a fire occurred at 602 Devonshire, McHenry. Responding to the call , Officer Rust and Special Officer Ackerman found the attached garage engulfed in flames and the living quarters filled with smoke. Both officers disregarded their personal safety and entered these quarters to search for anyone in need of help and to make sure the building was empty, and WHEREAS, the action taken by Officer Rust and Special Officer Ackerman, which involved performance above and beyond that required by members of the McHenry Police Department, exemplified the professionalism and enhanced the image of the McHenry Police Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Officer James Rust and Special Of- ficer Charles Ackerman, Jr. be commended by the Mayor and the City Council of the City of McHenry, on behalf of the citizens of the community for their courageous action. Motion by Harker , seconded by Nolan , that the above resolution be adopted and that a copy be made a permanent part of the records of the City of McHenry and a copy be presented to each officer.
