._,. RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the George R. Justen and Son Funeral Home, P.C. is
celebrating its 100th year of service to the community of McHenry
in this year of 1982; and
WHEREAS, the George R. Justen and Son Funeral Home, P.C. is
the oldest business in.McHenry; and
WHEREAS, this honorable business was begun in 1882 by Jacob
and Nicholas Justen and was later solely operated by George Justen
and became known in 1948 as the George R. Justen and Son Funeral
Home; and
WHEREAS, said funeral home is still operated by members of
the founder's family, and is managed in the traditional profes-
sional manner that has been the hallmark of this family business
for the past 100 years; and
WHEREAS, the George R. Justen and Son Funeral Home, P.C. has
upheld the very highest of professional standards, offered dignified
and respectful assistance to all , cooperated with the customs of
all religions and creeds, and given all due respect to the deceased
and understanding and consolation to the bereaved; and
WHEREAS, the City of McHenry is proud to have this esteemed
firm doing business in the City of McHenry.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of McHenry, and the citizens of McHenry congratulate the George
R. Justen and Son Funeral Home, P.C. , on the occasion of its 100th
anniversary and wish to express grateful acknowledgement of the
valued services rendered by this professional and dignified estab-
lishment to the greater McHenry area.

WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the House of Representatives that the George R. fi
Justen and Son Funeral Home, P.C., is celebrating its 100th year of service to the McHenry, Illinois com-
munity;and
WHEREAS, The George R. Justen and Son Funeral Home, P.C., is the oldest business in
McHenry,Illinois and is still operated by members of the founder's family;and
WHEREAS, This family-run business began a century ago as the Justen Brothers Furniture
and Undertaking firm under the management of Jacob Justen and his brother;and
WHEREAS, In the late 1800's and early 1900'4-the fledgling business was operated by Jacob
Justen and his two sons, George and Albert;and
WHEREAS, Jacob's residence next to the furniture store eventually became what is now the
George R.Justen and Son Funeral Home;and
WHEREAS,Jacob's son,George, became the sole owner of the business in 1948 when the firm
became known as the George R.Justen and Son Funeral Home;and
WHEREAS, George was known and will be long remembered in the McHenry community for
his big heart and his active concern for the community;and
WHEREAS, The family firm is now owned by George's son, Robert, while Robert's son,Mark,
manages and operates it in the traditional professional manner that bas been the hallmark of this family
business for the past 100 years;and
WHEREAS, The George R. Justen and Son Funeral Home, P.C., has tirelessly served the Mc-
Henry community for 100 years, upheld the very highest of professional standards, offered only the most
dignified and respectful assistance to all, cooperated with the customs of all religions and creeds, and given
all due respect to the deceased and understanding and consolation to the bereaved;therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE EIGHTY-SECOND
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, That we congratulate the George R. Justen and
Son Funeral Home, P.C,,on the occasion of its 100th anniversary;that we extend to this enduring business
our sincere thanks for its continuing pledge of professional and dignified service and for its dedication
to the McHenry community; that we wish the Justen family at least 100 years of success and respect in
the community;and, be it further
RESOLVED, That as a formal indication of our recognition of this milestone, a suitable copy
of this preamble and resolution be presented to Robert A. Justen, owner of the George R.Justen and Son
Funeral Home,P.C.
