HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - R-84-13 - 04/16/1984 - IPEA letter re Waste Disposal R-84-13 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of McHenry is responsible for the protection of the health, safety and welfare of their citizens; and WHEREAS, the citizens of McHenry have concern for their health, welfare and property values; and WHEREAS, the City of McHenry did not receive notification from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency of an application from Hillview Farms, Richmond, for the use of two new sites for the application of sludge near and contiguous to single family homes; and WHEREAS, the public and its representatives in County, Township and City Governing Bodies, Official Agencies and abutting landowners require information and guarantees of well being and proper operation in order to be able to comment in a timely manner. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MCHENRY that they hereby request the Illinois Environmental Pro- tection Agency to notify them of any renewal or original application for a McHenry County site to be used for the disposal of waste (toxic or non- toxic) ; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such notice also be served to the McHenry County Board of Health, Township Boards, concerned Cities and abutting landowners, with ample time for response before action on those applications is taken; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that comments and concerns developed by these individuals, Agencies and Governmental Units be considered and answered before permits are issued; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency extend the period for written comments and testimony regarding the Hillview Farm application from May 4, 1984 to June 1 , 1984 and that no action be taken on this permit until public hearings can be scheduled; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be registered with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, the County of McHenry, Governor Thompson's Office and the Offices of Senators Jack Schaffer and John E. Friedland and Representatives Richard Klemm, Ronald A. Wait and Jill Zwick.
