RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Polish Legion of American Veterans has existed
as a national and state organization for 62 years; and
WHEREAS, the City of McHenry, Illinois has, within its City
limits, Liberty Post 188 of the Polish Legion of American Veterans;
and
WHEREAS , Post 188 as well as its Ladies ' Auxiliary give aid
and comfort to hospitalized Veterans at the North Chicago V.A. Hospital ;
and
WHEREAS, Post 188 is ever in the forefront of advancing American
ideals as well as promoting the culture and contributions to America of
Poles and Polish-Americans; and
WHEREAS, Liberty Hall in McHenry was established one and one-half
years ago to serve as the social and cultural point of Polish-American
activities in the City of McHenry; and
WHEREAS , Liberty Post 188 will sponsor, on July 15, 1984, a
"OLDE TYME POLISH PICNIC" in order to raise funds for hospital and
humanitarian work.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF McHENRY , ILLINOIS that Sunday, July 15, 1984 be declared
"Polish Legion of American Veterans Day" in McHenry, with all citizens
encouraged to take time to be mindful of the sacrifices of veterans to
the United States and the many contributions made by Poles and Polish-
Americans to the progress of the United States.
PASSED and APPROVED this 18th day of June, 1984.
