A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF Mc HENRY, ILLINOIS,
CREATING A SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE AND ADOPTING A
POLICY STATEMENT FOR RISK MANAGEMENT AND EMPLOYEE SAFETY.
WHEREAS, the City of McHenry has the responsibility to provide a
safe work environment for its employees and expects each employee to
pursue the highest standards in his or her assigned activities; and
WHEREAS, all municipal employees must recognize that the well-being
and safety of persons involved and the protection of the City's
resources are as important as the activity and work being performed;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Mayor and City Council of the
City of McHenry, Illinois, as follows:
1. A Safety and Risk Management Committee and Program be
established immediately for the purpose of minimizing risk and losses
of time and materials, and protecting the health, safety and welfare of
everyone concerned.
2. The Mayor shall appoint a Safety and Risk Management Committee
and subcomittees with members from both management and the employees
to organize the overall program and develop a city-wide Employee Safety
Policy and Manual.
3. The Committee will investigate major losses and loss trends, and
advise the department supervisors of appropriate recommended corrective
action for better loss control.
4. Each department supervisor will be responsible for the safety
and well-being of the workers in his or her department, as well as the
repair and maintenance of municipal facilities and equipment in his or
her area of responsibility.
5. Each municipal employee will be responsible for his or her own
personal safety and for the safe completion of assigned tasks.
6. The City of McHenry is committed to doing all in its power to
make the Safety and Risk Management Program a success and expects all
municipal employees to fully assist in this effort by contributing
their expertise and by adhering to all established rules and procedures.
