HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - R-88-22 - 10/05/1988 - NICP Phase 1 Grant for Clean Lakes ProgramIron -VA RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of McHenry is concerned about the water quality in the future use of McCullom Lake for area residents. WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the high value which McCullom Lake has to the environmental, recreational, and economic well-being of the community; the importance of balancing in -lake management with watershed protection and nutrient/sediment reduction programs; that lake management inherently is an inexact science and that restoration and protection does not always come easily or at a very low cost; that the City Council is committed to improving the lake to the best of its ability. WHEREAS, The City Council feels it is necessary to conduct an extensive Diagnostic/Feasibility Study to identify lake problems, diagnose causes and develop a lake management plan. WHEREAS, the City of McHenry wishes to enter into an agreement with the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission to submit a Phase I grant application to the Clean Lakes Program. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City of McHenry, that said City will commit up to 50% of the costs of the Phase I Study not to exceed $40,000.
