WHEREAS, the Lion's Club of McHenry is a community organization
that has been serving the citizens of this area for twenty five
years; and
WHEREAS, the Lion's Club's contributions to the community
include assisting the needy with vision and hearing problems,
helping financially for eyeglasses, surgeries and office visits; and
WHEREAS, the Lion's Club refers people with vision or hearing
problems to doctors, hospitals or clinics where they can obtain the
help they need; and
WHEREAS, the Lion's Club conducts annual Hearing, Glaucoma and
Diabetes Screening tests for the public and finances the cost of the
mobile unit for such tests; and
WHEREAS, the Lion's Club assists annually with feeding the
needy, providing food during the holidays; and
WHEREAS, five years ago, the Lion's Club started the Quest
Program in the junior high schools in McHenry, a program that
promotes a positive self image for adolescents, thereby enabling
them to handle peer pressure in today's world.
NOW, THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of
the City of McHenry, that the City go on record as recognizing the
many contributions of the Lion's Club of McHenry and congratulates
it on its Twenty Fifth Anniversary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT a copy of this Resolution be made a
permanent part of the minutes of this meeting and that a copy be
presented to the Lion's Club of McHenry.
