expected to initiate a preliminary (Phase I) study immediately;
and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of
McHenry recognize that the construction of the 24 mile link
from Illinois Route 53 northwest to Richmond will enhance
economic development in the City of McHenry and County of
McHenry, which in turn will lessen the residential tax burden;

arterial roadway for persons traveling in, out and through the
City and County of McHenry that will link the motorists to
other major transportation corridors throughout northern
Illinois and neighboring states; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of
McHenry support said extension of Illinois Route 53 so long as

Council of the City of McHenry hereby expresses its support to
not only the preliminary (Phase I) study but also the

will:
1. Provide motorists within and traveling through the

transportation corridors throughout the State of
Illinois and neighboring states, which will also
reduce transportation fuel costs and accidents
because there will be less stop and go traffic.

which will in turn strengthen the City's tax base
and lessen the tax burden of the citizenry.
3. Relieve traffic congestion within the City of McHenry.
