A RESOLUTION OF CONCERN
REGARDING REDUCTION OF PACE FUNDING
WHEREAS, PACE is the bus system for the McHenry County area; and,
WHEREAS, funding for PACE comes from the Regional Transportation
Authority (RTA); and,
WHEREAS, PACE has recently been informed that the RTA is taking
$5,800,000 from PACE's 1994 budget to invest for some undefined item;
and,
WHEREAS, this taking will force PACE to cut services and raise
fares to City of McHenry residents; and,
WHEREAS, funding for paratransit and Dial -A -Ride services will be
in jeopardy because they depend on a portion of their funding from PACE;
and,
WHEREAS, these Dial -A -Ride programs provide critical
transportation services to the most vulnerable of McHenry's population,
that is the elderly, the poor, and the handicapped population required
by federal ADA legislation; and,
WHEREAS, the RTA may have within its budget several places where
funding is available to restore PACE's funding so that service levels to
McHenry residents will not be negatively affected.

CITY OF McHENRY, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the Mayor and City Council call upon and urge
the RTA Board to reconsider their decision regarding PACE funding cut
backs.
