WHEREAS, the Illinois House Revenue Committee has recently
approved Senate Bill 1339 which repeals the Sales Tax paid up front
on leased vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the revenue derived from Sales Tax provides 56% of
funding in the City of McHenry's General Fund, wherein only 13% of
revenue is generated by collection of Property Taxes; and
WHEREAS, a substantial portion - 30 to 50% - of the Sales Tax
collected in the City of McHenry is received from the sale and
leasing of cars and trucks; and

WHEREAS, this proposed legislation, if approved by the House

Representatives TO VOTE "NO" ON SB 1339 which, if enacted, would

be another devasting blow to municipalities already financially
strapped, especially those municipalities which are restricted by
