HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - RS-96-15 - 09/18/1996 - Recognizing James MolnarRS-96-15 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on Monday, September 2, 1996 at 3:00 a.m., an extensive fire occurred at the Irish Prairie Condominiums in the City of McHenry; and WHEREAS, Officer James Molnar was one of three McHenry patrolmen who first arrived at the apartment complex; and WHEREAS, before the fire department even arrived, Officer Molnar took action; and WHEREAS, Officer Molnar entered the burning building and ran through the hallways waking and alerting the residents, and stayed in the building until a response was received from each apartment; and WHEREAS, due to the quick thinking and heroic action on the part of Officer Molnar, all the residents of the sixteen inhabited apartments were able to leave the building safely; and WHEREAS, even though the fire caused major damage, there were no injuries or loss of human life as a direct result of the officers risking their own lives and entering the building. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Council go on record as recognizing the heroic actions of Officer James Molnar and thanks him for his efforts. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be incorporated into the minutes of this meeting and that a copy be presented to Officer James Molnar.
