WHEREAS, the City of McHenry was an active participant in the Junior Achievement
Program conducted by McHenry Elementary School District 15 at Edgebrook School; and
WHEREAS, Junior Achievement educates and inspires young people to value free
enterprise, business, and economics to improve the quality of their lives; and
WHEREAS, Phillip Maggio, City Planner, participated in the Junior Achievement
Program conducted by McHenry Elementary School District 15 at Edgebrook School from
April 6 through May 15, 1998; and
WHEREAS, Phillip Maggio was a Junior Achievement Leader developing a 45-minute
lesson once each week; and
WHEREAS, he presented this lesson to Ms. Robert Mullen's Third Grade Glass every
Wednesday for five consecutive weeks; and
WHEREAS, these lessons explained the importance of city government, city
occupations, city services, and economic development; and
WHEREAS, Phillip Maggio enlightened the third grade students as to government
issues and concerns relating to economic and community development for the City of
McHenry; and
WHEREAS, Phillip Maggio expended much time, energy, and research in providing
information to the students of the Junior Achievement Program for McHenry Elementary
School District 15.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FIRMLY RESOLVED that the Mayor and McHenry City
Council go on record as recognizing and applauding the outstanding efforts of Phillip
Maggio as a participant in the Junior Achievement Program.
