RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Christopher J. Bennett joined the McHenry Township Fire Protection
District Company 1 as a volunteer in January, 1968; and

WHEREAS, he worked his way up through the ranks becoming Chief in April, 1986
and graciously served in this capacity until May, 1998; and
WHEREAS, he has served the City of McHenry, its residents and the Community
at Large in his capacity as a Firefighter with Courage, Bravery, Dedication, and Integrity,
and has been commended on several occasions for his valiant efforts and acted in all
matters with the welfare of the City uppermost in his mind; and
WHEREAS, he witnessed the rebuilding of all three Fire Stations, was instrumental
in spearheading the purchase of five new fire trucks, five new ambulances, and two new
rescue squad vehicles during his leadership; and
WHEREAS, he was responsible for bringing the McHenry Township Fire Protection
District into the twentieth century with state of the art equipment and facilities through his
leadership; and
WHEREAS, the Fire District volunteer number swelled to 140 under his guidance
and leadership; and
WHEREAS, he can look back with pride on his contributions and accomplishments
while serving on the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
McHenry go on record as recognizing the many contributions and accomplishments of
Christopher J. Bennett and expresses its appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the citizens
of McHenry.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be incorporated into the minutes
of this meeting and that a copy be presented to Christopher J. Bennett.
