HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 04/13/2009 - City Council REGULAR MEETING APRIL 13, 2009 A regular meeting of the McHenry City Council was called to order by Mayor Low at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2009 in the Council . Chambers of the Municipal Center. At roll call the following Aldermen were present: Santi, Glab, Schaefer, Murgatroyd, and Wimmer. Absent: Peterson and Condon. City Staff in attendance were: City Administrator Maxeiner, City Clerk Jones, City Attorney McArdle, Deputy City Administrator Martin, Assistant City Administrator Hobson. PROCLAMATION: AMERICAN LEGION POPPY DAY In attendance was Karen Doran representing the American Legion Auxiliary. Mayor Low read into the record of the meeting a proclamation declaring May 9, 2009 as Poppy Day in the City of McHenry. Mayor Low then presented the framed proclamation to Ms. Doran. Ms. Doran thanked the City for acknowledging the American Legion's efforts. PUBLIC INPUT SESSION There was no one who signed in to speak during the Ten Minute Public Input Session. CONSENT AGENDA Motion by Wimmer, seconded by Santi, to approve the Consent Agenda as presented: A. Resolution declaring April 24, 2009 as Arbor Day in the City of McHenry Voting Aye: Santi, Glab, Schaefer, Murgatroyd, Wimmer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Peterson, Condon. Motion carried. SPECIAL USE APPLICATION AND WAIVER OF PARK RENTAL FEES FOR THE USE OF WHISPERING OAKS PARK ON JULY 31, 2009 FOR ORTHODONTICS PATIENT APPRECIATION NIGHT— CONLON AND THOMPSON Assistant City Administrator Hobson stated a request was received from Conlon and Thompson Orthodontics to use a portion of Whispering Oaks Parks for a Patient: Appreciation Night on July 31, 2009. Assistant City Administrator Hobson noted the event was held last year and approximately 200 people attended the event. The event concluded by 11 p.m. The only difficulty encountered last year was the inadequacy of the Fort McHenry restroom facilities in light of the number of persons attending the event. It is therefore Staffs recommendation to support the event subject to the applicant providing portable toilets for the event. Staff, however, does not support the applicant's request to waive all associated park rental fees. Require the applicant pay the park rental fee in the amount of$200; 3. Require the applicant to provide portable toilet facilities for the event. Voting Aye: Santi, Glab, Schaefer, Murgatroyd, Wimmer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Petersen, Condon. Motion carried MAYOR STATEMENT AND REPORT There was no statement or report by Mayor Low. COMMITTEE REPORTS There were no Committee Reports.. STAFF REPORTS City Administrator Maxeiner announced the first District 156 High School baseball game will take place tomorrow afternoon at the newly-renovated Petersen Park Field #2. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS There were no Future Agenda Items discussed. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Wimmer, seconded by Santi, to,adjourn the meeting at 7:37 p.m. Voting Aye: Santi, Glab, Schaefer, Murgatroyd, Wimmer. Voting Nay: None. Absent: Peterson, Condon. Motion carried.
