Meeting Minutes
November 17, 2020
Vice-Chairwoman Bremer called the November 17, 2020 regular meeting of the City of McHenry
Economic Development Commission to order at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was held via Zoom Web
Conferencing and all information was announced to the public for attendance via Zoom or by
Telephone. In attendance were the following: Bremer, Jessup, Mrachek, Pfeifer, Tenuto, Rankins,
Mayor Jett and Alderman Schaefer. Absent: Bionda Also in attendance were Director of Economic
Development Martin and Economic Development Coordinator Wolf.
Public Comment: There was nobody in attendance for public comment.
Approval of Meeting Minutes dated September 22, 2020
Motion by Rankins, seconded by Jessup to approve the September 22, 2020 Regular Meeting
minutes of the Economic Development Commission, as presented. All in Favor. Motion Carried.
Commissioner Reports
Alderman Schaefer led a discussion on how the EDC might assist the Planning & Zoning Commission
on communicating information on new developments. Director Martin explained the process the
Planning & Zoning Commission goes through to recommend developments at public hearings.
Developments may be added to the EDC agenda for discussion in the future to help communicate
fact-based information on economic advantages of a development.
Commissioner Mrachek joined the meeting at 4:25 p.m.
Commercial Tenant Incentive Program Update
Coordinator Wolf informed the Commission that another grant application was submitted for Ye
Olde Corner Tap. It will be brought to City Council December 7.
Shop & Dine McHenry Promotion
Coordinator Wolf reported a corporate sponsorship marketing video campaign was launched
toward helping our restaurants and bars market their carryout, delivery, curbside pickup and
outdoor dining procedures on their websites and social media. We are working with a videographer
who is in the process of making videos for 20 sponsored businesses. Sponsor donations were
received from Black Diamond Plumbing, Medela, Joule Technology, the Bremer Team and Mel and
Cynthia Jones-Locke.
Mayor Jett left the meeting at 4:35 p.m.
Business Recognition Program
Attempts are still being made to schedule an anniversary recognition with Dreisilker for 66 years in
McHenry. Director Martin and Coordinator Wolf are keeping track of any additional notable

anniversaries they hear about and ask the Commissioners to help keep them informed as they hear
or notice mentions of business anniversaries in McHenry.
Approval of 2021 Schedule
The 2021 schedule was presented and discussed. Motion by Tenuto, seconded by Mrachek, to
approve the 2021 Regular Meeting schedule of the Economic Development Commission, as
presented. All approved. Motion carried.
Staff Report
Small Business Saturday is Saturday November 28, 2020. Director Martin shared information on a
Manufacturing Pathways Consortium he’s involved with https://mfgpathways.com/.
