Treasurer’s Report
Business and Sub-committee reports
Historic District – Historic district approved by all City council members,
surveys need to be updated, information gathered to instill benefits of historic preservation for residential properties. Public response to proposal
is scheduled possibly for February - requires coordination with all City of McHenry governing bodies.
Landmark/ Plaquing application form – Has this been placed on the City web-site?
City interdepartment web access – CDD will provide directory path to web access for Landmark Commission.

1. List of Ten Most Endangered Houses/Buildings – scheduled till Sept.
Petersen Farm engineering scope of work foundation for farmhouse,
foundation / basement stabilization. As of 8/23/07 City of McHenry was
waiting for Aspect Design Architect’s proposal.
3. Silo restoration / renovation put on hold due to prior problems with the
IDNR. Waiting for City response.
New Business
Three City of McHenry Landmark Information signs require upkeep –
information needs to be changed and attached to the backboard . Should stainless steel display cabinets be ordered to replace the existing maintenance prone wood display cabinets.
Movies were taken of the Petersen Farm recently for some type of a
documentary production. Bill Hobson will be asked for an update on
this issue.
3. Funding for architectural scope of work design work has been approved
by the City Council. The Landmark Commission would like to review
the architect’s scope of work once it is developed for Section 106
historic preservation compliance. Waiting for City response.
CDD is contacting IDOT to find out what is being planned for route
route 120 and 31 upgrades to ease traffic problems. Waiting for City
response.
CDD is contacting the city to find out what requirements are necessary
to store Petersen farm artifacts, collectibles and some furniture off site
in safe storage during construction and renovation. Waiting for City
response.
Continue packing and moving of furniture once a schedule / program
for construction / renovation is provided by the city - on hold
7. Acquire new or former Landmark Commissioners to fill the vacancies
members who resigned. Are all positions filled?
Invite the City Council to visit / view the Petersen farmhouse to see the
historic significance of this property and amount of work it will take for renovation and the possibility of using this house as a museum once renovated. An open house has been scheduled
for some time Sept. 16, 2007 which will probably include all city personnel and the general public. Think about what could be viewed, what kind of programs could be provided, our interest
in a museum and possible working farm, a historic preservation library, and what else you can think of.
