WHEREAS, Richard W. Wimmer was first elected to the Office of City %J McHenry Ward 5
Alderman in 2001; was successfully reelected three times; and on April 30, 2017, will have completed 16
years of honorable service to the City of McHenry; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Ward 5 Alderman, Rich served on several Standing Committees
including Chairman of the Finance and Personnel Committee, Chairman of the Community Development
Committee, Chairman of the Public Works Committee, and Parks and Recreation Committee.
WHEREAS, during his 16 years of service, Rich witnessed and assisted in numerous matter for the
benefit of the city including, but not limited to:
• Sixteen consecutive balanced Fiscal Year budgets
• Purchase of the 22-acre addition to Petersen Park
• Development of the Petersen Park Waterfront
• Multiple Inter -Agency Mutual Aid Agreements
• Inter -Agency Partnership for the Northeastern Regional Communications Center
• Establishment of Home Rule Authority
• Construction of McHenry Riverwalk Phase 2
• Construction of Miller Point and Public Piers
• Development of McBark Dog Parr
• Construction of the McHenry Recreation Center
• Adoption of Strategic Plan
• Adoption of the Fund Balance and Reserve Policy
WHEREAS, Rich has acted in all matters with the welfare of the City uppermost in his mind and can
look back with pride on his numerous contributions and accomplishments while serving on the McHenry
City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the McHenry City Council recognizes the many
contributions and accomplishments of Alderman Richard W. Wimmer and expresses its appreciation and
gratitude to him on behalf of the citizens of McHenry and that this Resolution be incorporated into the
minutes of this meeting and that a copy be presented to Richard W. Wimmer.
