RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, in July 1994, Steven C. Murgatroyd was appointed to the McHenry Plan
Commission and served until April 30, 1997; and, on May 1, 1997 he began his first term as
City of McHenry Ward 4 Alderman; and
WHEREAS, Steve served the City of McHenry as Ward 4 Alderman for 12 years and
during that time served on the Parks and Recreation Committee, Public Works Committee, and
as Chairman of the Finance and Personnel Committee; and
WHEREAS, he witnessed and assisted in the creation and development of a Finance
Department; updates and revisions to the Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Map and the
Subdivision Control and Development Ordinance; establishment of a Planning and Zoning
Commission that combined the duties of the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals;
and, the purchase of the Petersen Farm Homestead Property; and
WHEREAS, because of his vast financial experience, Steve was asked to serve the
City of McHenry and accepted an appointment to the vacated office of City Treasurer; an
office he has honorably served since March 2010 until the term expires this April 30, 2013;
and
WHEREAS, Steve can look back over the past 16 years on his numerous contributions
and accomplishments serving the citizens of McHenry.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
McHenry go on record as recognizing the many contributions and accomplishments of Steven
C. Murgatroyd and expresses its appreciation and gratitude to him on behalf of the citizens of
McHenry.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be incorporated into the minutes of
this meeting and that a copy be presented to Steven C. Murgatroyd.
