WHEREAS, the City of McHenry Parks and Recreation Department prides itself in its efforts to
promote the physical, emotional and mental health of City of McHenry residents, and strives for
excellence and improvement of existing and newly formed recreational programs; and
WHEREAS, the newly created Board of McHenry Shamrocks Baseball Association desires to
offer a higher level of competition for participants involved in the City of McHenry's traveling baseball
teams; and
WHEREAS, the McHenry Shamrocks will represent the City of McHenry, as in years past; and
will be incorporated into the City's Parks and Recreation Program as its Traveling Baseball Teams; and
WHEREAS, the McHenry Shamrocks Baseball Association and its Board shall be comprised of
parents and volunteers to conduct league business and manage all teams; and the Board shall be
responsible for communication and cooperation with the City of McHenry Parks and Recreation
Department; and
WHEREAS, the McHenry Parks and Recreation Department shall make every effort to provide
the McHenry Shamrocks Baseball Association Teams with ball fields while cooperating in the scheduling
of field usage by all ball programs outside of the McHenry Parks and Recreation Program jurisdiction;
and
WHEREAS, the McHenry Shamrocks Baseball Association shall uphold the traditions associated
with the former Shamrock Baseball Team, namely: dedication to excellence, community spirit,
sportsmanship, and fair play; and
WHEREAS, the City of McHenry wholeheartedly supports the creation of the McHenry
Shamrocks Baseball Association, and, will evaluate the program's activities after three years, at which
time the divisions may have been expanded to six age divisions, possibly including a girls' division.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of McHenry goes on record as
recognizing the creation of the McHenry Shamrocks Baseball Association to be affiliated with the City of
McHenry Parks and Recreation Department and supports the initiation of assembling McHenry
Shamrocks Traveling Baseball Teams.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be incorporated into the minutes of this
meeting and be presented to the McHenry Shamrocks Baseball Association.
