RESOLUTION
R-99-030
WHEREAS, the Veterans Assistance Commission of McHenry
County has informed the City of McHenry of the US Department of
the Veterans Affairs proposal to eliminate all inpatient/ outpatient
Clerk's Office and
Administration
surgery and specialist care at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in

Public Works,
WHEREAS, McHenry County veterans will be forced to travel

over 65 miles to reach the next closest medical facility; and

WHEREAS, the City of McHenry recognizes access tb needed

health care is a major factor in improving the health status of our

WHEREAS, the implementation of this proposal will reduce

WHEREAS, the Veterans Assistance Commission of McHenry

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City of McHenry

Council be on record in opposition to the elimination of general

Chicago Hospital and recommends that the bed reduction be carried

out at facilities located in close proximity to each other; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be
distributed to all elected legislators that represent the McHenry
