RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the McHenry City Council endeavor's to aid the citizens of
McHenry in securing safe transportation throughout the City; and
WHEREAS, it has been duly noted that the current speed limit on Bull Valley
Road within the corporate limits of the City of McHenry between Crystal Lake Road
and Ridgeview Drive is 55 mph; and
WHEREAS, the maximum speed limit along the balance of Bull Valley Road is
45 mph; and
WHEREAS, reducing the speed from 55 mph to 45 mph on Bull Valley Road,
between Crystal Lake Road and Ridgeview Drive, would be beneficial to the safety of
the City of McHenry residents as well as to the general population of McHenry County;
and
WHEREAS, the speed limit along Route 120, a major five -lane state highway,
is 45 mph throughout the corporate limits of the City of McHenry; and
WHEREAS, the City of McHenry recognizes the Bull Valley roadway is
controlled by the County and respectfully asks the County to note that the City is
experiencing rapid residential development causing traffic congestion and safety
concerns along this corridor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the McHenry City Council
goes on record as supporting and endorsing the reduction in speed on Bull Valley Road
within the McHenry corporate limits to 45 mph and respectfully petitions the McHenry
County Board to consider this request.
