RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, George T. Erkenswick was hired as Patrolman for the City
of McHenry Police Department on May 1, 1976, promoted to Sergeant on May
1, 1986, and appointed Detective Sergeant on May 1, 1989; and
WHEREAS, he has made every effort to provide the citizens of ]McHenry
quality Police Protection and has performed his duties with diligence, loyalty
and professionalism; and
WHEREAS, he was appointed to the position of Acting Chief of Police
from March 19, 1999 to June 30, 1999, during the comprehensive search for a
new Police Chief, and provided the stability, integrity and quiet leadership
required to maintain the professionalism of the Department; and
WHEREAS, he has served the City of McHenry in his capacity as Police
Officer with courage and foresight, and has acted in all matters with the
welfare of the City uppermost in his mind; and
WHEREAS, he can look back with pride on his contributions and
accomplishments while serving the City of McHenry Police Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of McHenry go on record as recognizing the twenty-three years of
contributions and accomplishments of George T. Erkenswick and expresses its
appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the citizens of McHenry.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be incorporated into
the minutes of this meeting and that a copy be presented to George T.
Erkenswick.
