HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - R-99-023 - 06/02/1999 - RECOGNIZE BILL OEFFLING RETIREMENTResolution R-99-023 WHEREAS, William "Bill" Oeffling was hired by the City of McHenry Public Works Department in April 1973 and was assigned to park maintenance division in 1975; and WHEREAS, he has been instrumental in the maintenance, grooming, planting and development of the City of McHenry's 80 acres of park lands; and WHEREAS, he was a charter member employee of the City of McHenry Parks and Recreation Department at its inception in 1979 and was promoted to Park Maintenance Supervisor in 1982; and WHEREAS, he worked in the Parks Maintenance Department when it was a one-man operation responsible for the care of eleven park sites; and WHEREAS, he has received numerous commendations and accolades for his spirit of cooperation, support, compassion and willingness to reach out to assist those in need, including civic organizations, softball and baseball leagues, and others requiring his aid; and WHEREAS, he now oversees the Parks Maintenance Department as its Supervisor who is charged with the supervision of fulltime, seasonal and summer staff who maintain a total of 32 parks totaling more than 473 acres of open park lands in the City of McHenry; and WHEREAS, he can look: back with pride on his service and aesthetic contributions to the McHenry community after 26 years of dedication and service. NOW THEREFORE BE, IT RESOLVED that the McHenry City Council go on record as recognizing the twenty-six years of contributions and accomplishments of William "Bill" Oeffling and expresses its appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the citizens of McHenry. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be incorporated into the minutes of this meeting and that a copy be presented to William "Bill" Oeffling. PASSED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of June, 1999.
