Proclaiming May 16-May 22, 1999
National Public Works Week
In the City of McHenry
WHEREAS, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed National Public Works
Week as an annual reminder of the many ways Public Works contributes to the quality of
life and safety of the citizens of our country; and
WHEREAS, the 1999 theme for promoting public awareness of Public Works
has been designated as "Advancing Your Community"; and
WHEREAS, Public Works projects are vital to the growth and quality of life of
the City of McHenry; and
WHEREAS, the City of McHenry Public Works Department provides through its
Street Division, Water Division and Wastewater Division, services, comfort, health and
safety necessities to the McHenry Community such as water, sanitary waste disposal,
public roadways and walkways; and
WHEREAS, through the cooperative efforts of the employees of the Public
Works Department the citizens of McHenry, the current lifestyle, health ,and safety
standards are assured and preserved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IS RESOLVED that the week of May 16 — May 22,
1999 shall be known as National Public Works Week. All citizens are urged to
participate in National Public Works Week activities to help create an awareness as to the
administration and importance of all facets of Public Works projects in the City of
McHenry, and to spotlight the role of the dedicated employees of the Public Works
Department in the City of McHenry.
