Requirements:
- Trees must be centered in the parkway and 6 feet from the back of the curb.
- Trees must be spaced a minimum of 40 feet apart and 35 feet from the intersecting street.
- Trees must be a minimum of 5 feet from underground utilities and 10 feet from fire hydrants and driveways.
- The location of where the tree is to be planted must be marked with a stake.
- If the applicant/property owner is planting the tree, he/she shall be responsible in obtaining utility locates at least 48 hours in advance of planting the tree. To request utility locates, call J.U.L.I.E at 811 or visit www.illinois1call.com to complete the online form.
- Trees requested through the City Tree Planting Program are on a first come first serve basis, pending adequate program funds in the fiscal year.
- The applicant/property owner is responsible for protecting the tree from lawn mowers, fertilizer, weed killer and other potential damages.
- The City shall retain the right to maintain and remove the tree if necessary.
- Tree placement must be approved by the City Arborist at 815-363-2162.
